The Canton is a fantastic rum drink found in The Essential Bartender´s Guide by Robert Hess. There is no further information about its origin, but I found the information that it is from Jones Complete Barguide by Stan Jones (1977). Who knows more about it?
Ingredients
2 ounces Jamaican Rum, 1/2 ounce Maraschino Liqueur, 1/2 ounce Orange Curaçao, 1 dash Grenadine, 1 dash Creole Bitters (optional, my choice), garnish: Orange Twist and Cherry
Preparation
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with the orange twist and the cherry.
